It’s taken me awhile to get here…

I’ve been slowly taking my self-care advice with baby steps. After spending so much time focusing mainly on my child and husband, I am making more of an effort to reconnect with myself.
It hasn’t been easy, I still rush out of the house sometimes barely leaving time to get myself dressed and together. If I could wear workout clothes to work, I would and that’s probably a good thing.
Making more of an effort to put on lipstick.
Making sure I take out quiet time for myself, whether its journaling, reading a book, or getting a pedicure.
Last weekend, I finally booked the spa I’ve been threatening to go to for years. It’s one thing to talk about it, it’s something else to finally take that first step.
Thanks to Claire Sulmers of Fashionbombdaily.com, Ohm Spa was on my radar so I booked a package; facial and massage.
I never had a facial before and it was pure decadence. My lady was amazing and she pointed out my problem areas. It reaffirmed I wasn’t taking proper care of myself, i.e. eating too much sugar and not enough water.
After I got dressed for my next treatment, I noticed one of my nipple pads was missing from my bra. I looked inside my spa robe and underneath the treatment table; it was nowhere to be found.
I should’ve known better; nipples pads do not simply disappear. I left the room and was greeted by my masseuse. She left the room so I could slip under the sheets and I looked again, halfheartedly.
She re-entered the room, asked me a few questions, and pulled down the sheet to begin.
“Is that a heating pad on your back?” She sounded like a cartoon talking underwater. All I heard was “wah wah wah.”
She repeated herself. I reached around and felt something sticky on the small of my back. It was the damn nipple pad.
We burst into laughter and then proceeded with the massage.
